Prior to launching her freelance career in 2002 as a writer, graphic designer, and consultant, Cheryl A. Hemmerle worked for over 20 years with youth and young adults in community and religious organizations, including local churches and a national agency of The United Methodist Church. She is the author of numerous articles, program resources, curricula and training materials for religious press and contributing editor and reviser of Conduct Becoming to a Woman (New York: GBGM, 2003). Cheryl is currently at work on a self-published book of poetry and prose, Writing the Wrongs, to be released in 2006, and an autobiographical fiction novel, tentatively titled And the Sea Shall Be No More.

In the summer of 2005, Cheryl was selected as an Artist-in-Residence at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, to work with award-winning novelist and poet, Sapphire. She will begin the 18-month certificate in Creative Writing at Middle Tennessee State University's The Writer's Loft in January 2006. Cheryl is also an instructor for the University of Phoenix's online undergraduate course, teaching World Religions, Writing, Communications, Psychology, and Literature.

Born in 1962 in Pennsylvania, Cheryl is a graduate of LaGrange College (B.A., Religion and Psychology) and Emory University (M.Div.). She lives in Antioch, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville, with her partner, Marsha, their grey tabby cat, Molly, and their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Happy.
