i failed to spend time
      at sorin’s grave
            writing       listening
      at the grotto praying

christe eleison

i approached this journey
      like a tourist    at arm’s length
      afraid of it
            not wanting to get too close
      to god        to myself        to marsha
      so objective          
            intellectual     analytical
                  precise           scripted

kyrie eleison

i’ve been so tightly wound
      staying on task
      everything has to be
            right     correct
at least in most areas of my life
      i’m still a fat    lazy      slob
            don’t seem too disciplined
                  about that
      must be my vice

lord, hear my prayer

May our Lord Jesus Christ absolve you; and by His authority I absolve you from every bond of excommunication and interdict, so far as my power allows and your needs require. Thereupon, I absolve you of your sins in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.¹⁶
